Myth: lawyers are all buttons and navy

Work Smart. Dress Smart.

I came to law school in a roundabout way even though I was lucky enough to find my career path before I left college. Studying for the LSAT, I knew this field was a good fit for me. Sitting in a mock class at my future program, I knew law was my passion. My initial awe has maintained, thankfully, and I have loved my three internships thus far, all in different sectors of the law. I entered law school with a specific idea of where I wanted to go. Health law, policy work, no litigation, no bar. That plan has gotten a lot murkier as I’ve fallen in love with more facets of the law, including the courtroom, but having a fondness for each one can’t be too bad a thing. I wore this outfit in the Fall to work at a general counsel’s office of a large health network. Though the law is one profession where business professional is still the standard, I’ve found in most offices and firms the dress is personal taste so long as modest. Navy and black may still be required for some courtrooms or client meetings, but fashion is alive and well in law. My coat is from Wish.com. One of my longtime favorites for ridiculously-discounted fashion. The top is from H&M paired with ankle trousers from Old Navy, and my staple khaki ballet flats.

Always,

Allison
