Wind & Waves & Wishes

Being from the Southern shores of the U.S. has made me accustomed to warm weather and sunny, long days by the time Spring Break [finally] rolls around. That’s not so much the case in Cleveland. Luckily, “where there’s a will there’s a way” has proven to be steadfast in my life.

I got one of my biggest wishes-my boyfriend accepted a job in Cleveland! and we were no longer long distance. The catch…. he had to start right before Spring Break. Bye-bye 10 days of delusional bliss, as if I’m not constantly on a million deadlines. Though I had work to attend to during the break, I was hoping to do it somewhere warmer and preferably new. I suggested going to Denver to see his friends, one condition met, but the flights had cringeworthy prices. We looked at Orlando, definitely warm, but also more expensive than we’d like for a weekend. Then in a perfect culmination of sun, newness, and family, we were off to L.A.! We stayed with Drew’s grandmother and saw all of the sights through a tour, then made our way to Santa Monica Pier. It wasn’t the hottest Spring Break, but a weekend in L.A. was a great cap to a nice respite from the grad- school grind. My favorite Spring Break will probably remain the one that brought me and Drew together in our last year of college. The one were I learned that he danced…and spoke. lol.

This outfit had to carry me through a series of adventures so I embraced the rules of layering and picked items that “go” not necessarily match. My jacket and scarf are both long-time closet fillers, green strapless ruffle dress from Wish, white converses from bridesmaid’s duties in oldest sister’s wedding. Shades probably Walmart or Target. Beach bag-Target. Now go find your sun!

Always,

Allison
